Family Vacation Checklist: Plan and Book Without the Stress

Family trips are the best, but planning them can feel like a lot. This checklist keeps it simple so you can book with confidence.

Before you search

  • Set a total budget for the whole trip, not just the hotel
  • Write down everyone’s ages. Many prices and room options depend on them
  • Check school calendars for the best dates
  • Decide: drive or fly?

Pick a kid-friendly trip

  • Theme parks: big fun, but plan your park days and rest days
  • Family resorts: look for kids’ clubs, splash pads and family suites
  • Cruises: lots of activities for every age, and you only unpack once

When you book

  • Make sure the room fits everyone comfortably
  • Check what’s included: breakfast, parking, resort fees
  • Read the cancellation policy, because plans with kids can change

Before you leave

  • Check ID and passport requirements for every traveler, kids included, as early as possible
  • Pack snacks, chargers and something to do for the trip there
  • Save your confirmation numbers in one place on your phone
